R&M
headlight bracket for
handlebars (dual version) Of course you can fit your own, and you don't
have to fit the lights next to each other, but I would recommend to fit
them so that you can reach the switches on the fly. Do not fit the
lights
upside down, and non-SON users see the note below.
-
Stock
SON headlight with switch
(Lumotec, E6, but not the oval plus unless used in conjunction with the
E6-z)
-
SON
headlight in short-circuit
version (E6-z)
-
Tie-wraps,
4 & 5 mm allankeys,
two 10mm wrenches
|
 |
-
Fit
the R&M bracket
-
Replace
the inhexbolt by the
110mm threaded rod and the 45mm spacer
|
 |
-
Fit
the headlights
-
If
you don't plan to connect
a rear light, replace the bulb in the primairy light with one marked 3W
(The short-circuit version is always supplied with a 3W bulb
-
If
you do connect a rear light,
connect it to the primairy light, and retain the 2.4 bulb.
|
 |
-
The
two wiring looms are joined
at the hub. If you have to fit the plugs see here
for instructions
|
 |
-
The
two remaining plugs are
pushed on the generator. Don't worry about the joined plugs, as long as
they don't get caught in the spokes.
|
 |
-
Secure
the wires with tie-wraps,
excess lenght can be wrapped around the mounting bracket. Check that
the
steering or movement of the brakecable isn't impaired. Leave enough
slack
near the hub to facilitate (dis-)connecting.
-
The
switch on the primairy light
(here the Lumotec) turns on the lights
-
The
switch on the secondary
light (here the E6-z) adds the high beam
-
If
the bulb in the primairy
light fails, the secondary will still work. However all current is now
carried by the Z-diode and turned into heat. Replace the bulb ASAP!
